1st day at the IAU

After we had cleared some organizational things we met in a conference room with all the other summer school programme participants. It was a great welcoming. Every person gave a short information about where they came from, what they are studying & which course they took.

Then we had the registration & a little lunch time. We ate at the cafeteria.
The 1st lesson was immediately afterwards. Although we had a little technical problem we managed to finally start the lesson. The lesson was called "Istanbul: From Byzantium to Ottoman Empire". The name does really say everything about the lesson. It was really interesting and i enjoyed listening.

After the lesson we entered the bus to go to the first activitys location. And i can tell you the best thing in Istanbul was the air conditioner in that bus. It wasn't that far from the university. So we went to Aquaflorya Aquarium in Florya. On your way to the end of the aquarium you could see different parts of the world from the Black Sea to the Pacific to a rainforest and much more.

 We then walked into the Aquaflorya shopping mall to have a dinner but you can also leave the aquarium without entering the mall. Unfortunately the food made me sick and i didn't felt very well on the next day. But the view was amazing. The sunset was beautiful.
